7-Day Amalfi Coast & Capri Itinerary
The Amalfi Coast is one of those rare places that genuinely exceeds expectations from the water. Sheer cliffs draped with lemon groves, pastel villages tumbling to hidden beaches, the island of Capri rising dramatically from the sea — this 7-day itinerary covers the essential highlights while discovering the quieter places only a yacht can reach.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Embarkation
Board in Naples or Salerno. Welcome drinks and briefing. First evening: anchor off Positano for dinner ashore in one of Italy’s most photographed villages. The waterfront restaurants are exceptional — book ahead for the best tables.
The Island of Dreams
Morning: snorkel in the crystal waters off Positano’s pebble beach. Then sail to Capri — one of the great yacht destinations. Afternoon: anchor in the Marina Grande, take the funicular to Capri town, visit the Gardens of Augustus for the famous Faraglioni view. Overnight in the marina.
Blue Grotto & Faraglioni
A full day on Capri. Early morning: approach the Blue Grotto by tender before the tourist boats arrive — the electric blue light inside is one of the Mediterranean’s true wonders. Afternoon: swim off the yacht at the Faraglioni rocks. Sunset drinks at La Fontelina beach club.
The Amalfi Coastline
Sail along the full length of the Amalfi Coast — arguably the most beautiful 25km of coastal scenery in the world. Stop at the Baia di Ieranto nature reserve for swimming. Continue to the town of Amalfi for the night. Walk to the 9th-century cathedral. Dinner at a cliffside restaurant.
Hilltop Villages
Morning: visit the hilltop village of Ravello by taxi from Amalfi — the Villa Rufolo gardens have one of the world’s great views over the coast. Afternoon: sail to Praiano and anchor in the hidden cove of La Praia, far from the crowds. Overnight at anchor.
Into the Fjord
Morning: visit the extraordinary Furore Fjord — a tiny village hidden in a gorge, inaccessible except by boat. Then sail to the island of Ischia for the afternoon. Explore the Aragonese Castle and the thermal gardens. Overnight in Ischia porto.
Farewell
Leisurely morning on Ischia. Final swim at one of the island’s thermal beaches. Afternoon return to Naples or Salerno for disembarkation.
Practical Information
Main base: Naples or Salerno. The coastline is relatively short — this is an immersive rather than distance-covering itinerary. Note ZTL restrictions in some ports. Berths in peak season must be pre-booked.
